Alchemy Film Foundation is a new way of engaging with cinema. We believe that film is a place for transformation. We cultivate space for the creation of immersive cinematic experiences that are multi-media. At AFF you will witness the interweaving of film, interactive installations, sound scapes, photography, performance and spoken word.
AFF programming brings together emerging and first time filmmakers side by side with Internationally renowned artists for panels and roundtable discussions as we delve into the creative process of visual story telling.
At AFF you will find monthly film screenings, immersive video and performance art installations, engaging dialogues, transformative workshops, incubators for works in development, weekly mixers for the queer film and art community and more.
Visual & Performance Art Events
At Alchemy Film Foundation we understand the impact of transformative film, visual arts, theater, and performance. When artists gather together and share their potent words, performances, visions with the community everyone leaves that space impacted, changed. Our hearts are more open, our spirits more deeply connected. From immersive video art installations to retrospectives of iconic queer filmmakers, and new and innovative ways for performance art, spoken word and dance to dialogue with cinema - AFF - is pushing boundaries and cracking open hearts.
Education, Nourishment, and Enrichment
At Alchemy Film Foundation we believe in supporting and nuturing our creative community. You will find both in person and online resources and workshops to support you in the creation of your next creative work. Workshops range from weekly screenwriting labs, intuitive writing intensives, community artist co-working hours, queer youth film programs, and Deepening the Well: Healing and Wellness Program for Queer artists, Performers and Filmmakers.
Create and Cultivate
Art does not exist in a vaccum. Alchemy Film Foundation understands the importance of cultivating community and the power of connection. At AFF you will find our art and performance works spilling out onto the streets. Connecting with the community in the Mission District with mural projects, public art works, partnering with community based non-profit organizations , holding weekly queer filmmaker and artist mixers, and Alchemy Co-Working Hours for queer artists, writers, performers and filmmakers.
